Obeetee Debuts Modern, Textural Collection at BDNY
NEW YORK, Nov. 11, 2018 -- Obeetee, a world leader in hand-woven carpets, is debuting a modern, textural collection at BDNY at the Jacob K. Javits Center here, Sunday, November 11 and Monday, November 12. The collection, “Peacock Dreamscape,” is inspired by the Obeetee bungalow in the city of Mirzapur, the perfect respite from the beautifully chaotic streets of the nearby Varanasi, both tranquil and vibrant, the ultimate getaway. The signature piece, of the same title, is a multi-level, hand-carved tufted rug made of 100 percent New Zealand wool. This hand-tufted construction is a standard stitch and density that is ideal for both contract and residential, but with the modern, textural approach.

Included in the developments for the show is the new elevated “Kuba Moroccan” quality, a sophisticated high pile, hand-knotted rug with a construction that has been altered and engineered to be more suitable for contract and hospitality.

The Obeetee booth at BDNY was dressed in a hand-painted mural that illustrates a peacock in a dreamscape.

“We are very excited to be debuting this collection for the hospitality and contract markets and look forward to the many installations ahead,” said Patricia Ben-Zvi, President of Obeetee, Inc. (Obeetee North America).
