Mohawk's UltraWood Featured in Green Builder's 2021 Hot 50 Products
CALHOUN, Ga. April 19, 2021—Mohawk’s breakthrough new hardwood, UltraWood, has been chosen for Green Builder’s Hot 50 Products list. Slated as the ultimate performance hardwood, UltraWood’s long lasting durability and superior waterproof protection has secured its spot as one of the only flooring products on this exclusive list of cross-category innovations.

Green Builder’s Hot 50 Products list highlights product innovations that make homes more energy efficient and resilient. Each year, the Green Builder editorial team selects products that go above and beyond, improving the quality of the home and the lives of those who live in it. Featuring the latest in technological innovations: Everlast, WetProtect and Easy Clean, UltraWood was the perfect candidate.

“We are delighted to have such immediate validation of UltraWood as an ultimate performance hardwood floor,” said Seth Arnold, vice president of marketing, wood and laminate. “Green Builder has an incredibly high standard for their product choices, and we have an equally high standard for performance. So being included in the Hot 50 Products list is a meaningful recognition of Mohawk’s commitment to creating long lasting products.”

UltraWood includes Mohawk’s new Everlast hardwood protection system, reinforcing its hardwood veneer against scratches, wear and dents. Everlast technology promises four-times greater scratch protection, two-times stronger wear protection and five-times greater dent protection. Therefore, with Everlast hardwood protection, UltraWood’s appearance remains beautiful and is supported by a lifetime wear warranty.

UltraWood also utilizes Mohawk’s new patented WetProtect technology. WetProtect provides the right kind of waterproof because of its innovative protection for the top of the floor and from water leaking through and damaging the subfloor. WetProtect provides the only lifetime surface and subfloor waterproof warranty in the flooring market.

EasyClean, Mohawk’s enhanced lacquer, resists stains and soil buildup within the grain of each UltraWood board and keeps the floor looking its best longer.

Additionally, UltraWood is domestically produced at the company’s Danville facility in Virginia, reducing the carbon footprint and contributing to the local community. UltraWood is also SCS FloorScore certified. The Floor Score Indoor Air Quality Certification means that a flooring has been independently certified by SCS to comply with the volatile organic compound emissions criteria of the California Section 01250 Program. Any product that has met these stringent standards is a product that will contribute to good indoor air quality.

Indoor air quality is important because if homeowners are spending more time breathing poor quality air, they could be facing a higher risk level for a variety of health problems, including headaches, dizziness, and other more serious long-term conditions. Having the FloorScore certification means that UltraWood contributes to healthier, cleaner air in homes.

In addition to UltraWood making the Hot 50 list, Mohawk received the best Green Builder Media Brand Index score in the flooring category. This score is based on survey data on how Green Builder’s readers rank each company’s sustainability, how favorably consumers see the company, and positive mentions.
