Magnificent Machine Made Rug Intros Make Strong Impression at Market
Leading the way was the Tribute collection, a new addition to the Biltmore® For Your Home line that includes two machine made designs -- Bazaar and Parlor -- in 100% New Zealand wool. Available in a total of four creative colorways, a 5' x 8' Tribute rug may retail for under $749.
"The Tribute collection was inspired by actual rugs at Biltmore, with the colors updated to fit the styles of today's market," says Cameron Capel, president -- sales and marketing for Capel Rugs. "Both designs reflect the rich heritage of Biltmore, capturing the warm spirit of family and friends for which the Vanderbilt family has long been famous."
Also doing well at market was Lineage, a new collection for the Capel Rugs line that features the same type of machine-made construction and 100% New Zealand wool composition as the Tribute collection. Available in a total of four colorways, Lineage includes four traditional-leaning designs. A 5' x 8' rug may retail for under $749.
"The new Tribute and Lineage collections both offer retailers a fashionable step-up product, with beautiful details and colors, at a very affordable price point," Capel says.

Other new licensed designs finding favor in the Capel Rugs showroom during market included Clayton, a hand tufted, block print-inspired 100% wool design with zero pile added to the WILLIAMSBURG® line. Three new collections recently added to the Genevieve Gorder line also made their debut in High Point to an enthusiastic response -- Brass Belly, a timeless Art Nouveau design featuring rows of overlapping scallop shapes in three on-trend colorways; Intersection, a bold geometric design in hand tufted 100% wool with three colorways; and Canyon, a colorful nature-inspired pattern in tufted wool with a contemporary flair.
Introductions to the flagship Capel line also earned solid placements with retailers at the spring market. They included:
Nomad, a new collection of hand knotted transitional designs with an abstract pattern made in India of 100% New Zealand wool. The semi-worsted collection features an open knot construction with a plush high/low pile. Three colorways are available -- ivory/grey, ivory/navy and ivory/chestnut. A 5' x 8' model may retail for under $799.
LM HOME
A new collection of four braided rugs with casual, classic Americana themes created in collaboration with the Laurel Mercantile (LM) Home brand and its furniture partner, Vaughan-Bassett. Capel Rugs' LM Home offerings include four models, each with different constructions and colorways. The new LM Home Classic Quilt rug (pictured), featured at the front of the Capel showroom during market, is a braided rectangle design in 50% wool with a quilt-inspired pattern in a navy colorway. LM Home Stripe is a vertically striped braid in navy-and-tan and scarlet-and-tan colorways. LM Home Classic Wool is a thick, heavy all-wool oval design with a wide tape treatment in a navy- and-cream colorway, and LM Home Classic Poly is a classic oval design in a 100% polypropylene construction with a navy colorway.
SEAGROVE
A new easy-care, flat woven reversible design in 100% naturalized polypropylene that gives a textured, wool-like appearance and feel, yet all the performance of polypropylene! Seagrove features five colorways -- steel, oyster, multi, wedgewood and seagrass (pictured). A 5' x 8' rug may retail for under $549.
TASANEE
A new contemporary collection with an abstract, painterly feeling, made its High Point debut this market. Hand knotted in India, Tasanee is a wool construction with a touch of viscose for added depth and sheen. Three colorways are available, including ocean, morning dove and amber multi (pictured). A 5' x 8' model may retail for under $1,999.
"We're pleased by the orders and activity we generated this market," Capel says. "Retailers came to our showroom in good spirits about the state of their business and were ready to buy fresh looks with a strong value proposition. We generated a great response with our latest introductions, which continue to provide retailers with the key features they need to meet the needs of today's consumers."
