Just because Turkey has been producing ceramic tile for over 8,000 years, and currently is the 4th largest tile producing country in the world... doesn't mean the nation should rest on its venerable history or well-deserved laurels. Turkey looks at its ceramic industry as a worldwide business... and continues to run this sector by implementing good business principles.
With the catchphrase "Turkishceramics... Four Elements... One Inspiration" ... the focus is on how the manufacturing process is still to this day, based on nature, with "earth, air, fire and water being the major components. With an eye on the future and always using the most modern of technologies, business continues to burgeon. To note:
• Exports are surging, as Turkey now is one of the world's top 5 exporters of both ceramic tile and sanitaryware. In 2017, Turkey exported $552 million USD of ceramic tile material, and $231 million USD of ceramic sanitaryware.
• The country of Turkey is the third largest producer of ceramic tile in Europe.
• In 2017, Turkey exported $66 million USD of ceramic tiles and $11 million USD of sanitaryware to the United States... a 12% increase over the previous year. The USA, in particular, continues to be a rising market for Turkish ceramic materials.
Why is all this happening? To begin with, Mother Nature has been good to Turkey. The nation is blessed with an abundance of extremely pure natural resources. Add to that, an 8,000 year history of ceramic production... and, what results is an ongoing tradition of excellence in every phase of ceramics, from concept to delivery.
The Turkish Ceramics Industry today can be characterized by its nimble flexibility, fast delivery, responsiveness, experienced manpower, wide ranges of products, state-of-the-art technology, world-class design capabilities and much, much more. According to Mr. Erdem Çenesiz, Chairman of the Turkishceramics Association, "Immodestly, we not only have a long tradition of producing the highest quality ceramic materials. We also have a long history of doing business the right way. We listen to the marketplace, and then deliver very specific ceramic products, based upon marketplace demand."
At Coverings 2018 this past May, Turkishceramics companies were able to beautifully showcase their newest products. Exhibitors included Akgün Seramik, Bien Seramik, Ege Seramik, Seranova, Termal Seramik, Uşak Seramik, Yurtbay Seramik, Kale and Vitra. Additionally, Turkishceramics provided an “info-booth” which offered a "charging station" and lunch for visitors throughout the entire fair. To further increase visibility, Turkishceramics was “the tote bag sponsor” of Coverings, as well.
Turkishceramics is a group for ceramic manufacturers and exporters in Turkey.
