CALHOUN, GA.—Twelve years ago, Juan Flores began a charge that led to the Faus Group becoming a global force in the laminate flooring sector. On Oct. 31, he resigned as president of the company to pursue other options.
“After much consideration, I have decided to explore other opportunities,” he said in a statement. “My decision has not been an easy one to make, but I feel that it is the correct one for me at this point in my career.”
Flores told FCNews he plans to remain in the flooring industry but first wants “to take a little break. From running a company I created in the states to expanding the Faus brand around the world, the last 12 years have been very hectic.”
In addition to starting up Faus’ U.S. operations, which included the building of a manufacturing plant here, Flores oversaw the opening of manufacturing and marketing operations in Asia, expanded the company’s patented technologies through licensing agreements with mills in the U.S., Europe and Asia and was part of a management buyout from the Faus family.
“We had a great deal of success,” he said during an exclusive interview, “but there comes a time when you have to do what you feel is best for yourself and your family. There are tons of opportunities out there, and I feel confident that everything will work out for the best for everyone.”
News of Flores’ resignation not only came as FCNews was going to press, it was a surprise to many, including Faus, officials told FCNews. As such, no decision had been made on who or how the company will replace Flores.
