House of Color, Inc. was established in 1950’s as a paint and decorating retailer. Gary G. Hanson purchased the business in 1976 and expanded on the businesses possibilities. The House of Color, Inc. grew to offer floor, wall and window coverings with installation. Because of the increase in selection Gary had to move the business several times. First from 2nd Street to 123 East Broadway Avenue and then again in 1999 to 2100 East Broadway Avenue. The facility, at 2100 East Broadway Avenue, is 25,000 square feet. It’s spacious interior allows it to have two display floors. The facility design is an original done by Gary G. Hanson, Allied Member ASID. House of Color, Inc. is a design studio for both residential and commercial decorating. It is staffed with design specialists who are here to assist you with any designing needs. There is also a paint department staffed with a specialist in paint, stain, application techniques and sundries. House of Color, Inc. also has professional installers with over 100 years of experience in installation. In 2006 House of Color, Inc. became a Stain Master Flooring Center. This makes our facility the only one in Bismarck to offer you the Stain Master Ultra Life carpet series. Carpet is not the only area our business specializes in. The talented staff here is able to transform your home or business from top to bottom. We offer: area rugs, carpet, ceramic tile, ceiling tile, custom cabinets, custom countertops, custom furniture, custom showers, custom window treatments, hardwood/ laminate flooring, paint / sundries, vinyl flooring, and many accessories.
