What Will Home Look Like in 2030?
NEW YORK, Nov. 9, 2020 – Who says? Members of the International Furnishings & Design Association (IFDA) and other experts in the U.S. home furnishings and design business. As they did in 2000 and 2010, the New York Chapter of IFDA has looked into their “Crystal Ball” via an online survey to foresee the American home 10 years into tomorrow. If you're interested in the business of home, the results of this IFDA survey and the noted authorities that will be weighing in, mark your calendar and join the Zoom for: THE FUTURE OF HOME: How Our Homes and Home Life Are About to Change sponsored by IFDA NY Chapter. The event will take place via Zoom Wednesday, November 18 at 11 a.m. The event is free to non-members; members: $5. Click on the link below to register.

“Guides to the future” for the event include acclaimed journalist and author Warren Shoulberg, Anthony Carrino of HGTV’s Kitchen Cousins and Mary and Al Giaquinto of Plum Buliders. The discussion will be moderated by Rose Gilbert, FIFDA and a notable journalist and author herself. IFDA NY Treasurer Jennifer Munich will give a summary presentation.

“This should be an exciting program relevant to so many facets of the design/furnishings world,” said Susan Hirsh, FIFDA, who heads up the IFDA NY Crystal Ball committee, which conducted the survey and is organizing this virtual event.

Warren Shoulberg – Read this acclaimed home furnishings retailing columnist in The Robin Report, Forbes.com and The Business of Home. He's guest lectured at Columbia University's Graduate School of Business and he is often cited as an expert by the Wall Street Journal, NY Times, Washington Post, CNN and ABC News. He's also pretty funny.

Anthony Carrino – Award-winning renovator, starring with his cousin John in HGTV's hit show Kitchen Cousins, now in its ninth season. Also see him with Ellen DeGeneres in The Build Up. Next up: his own digital series, TheBuild.tv, showing real homeowners how to renovate in real time

Mary and Al Giaquinto – Partners for 20+ years in Plum Builders, Inc, East Hampton, creators of The Modern Barn and Modern Barn Furnishings. Two of their children are in the business, too. Al is a Graduate Master Builder, Certified Graduate Remodeler, and Certified Green Builder. Mary is also certified in construction project management, has a degree in English literature, a real estate license, and makes great cheesecake.

The International Furnishings and Design Association (IFDA), founded in New York City in 1947 and now with 11 chapters worldwide, provides a professional forum for communication and interaction among its high-profile members. The IFDA, a not-for-profit volunteer-run association, also promotes career advancement and educational opportunities and is structured to increase public awareness of the furnishings and design industry through specialized programming, networking and service to the community.
