Capel Rugs Adding Fresh Patterns, Colors to Two Best-Selling Collections
As the industry enters a fresh year – and decade – filled with new opportunities, Capel Rugs is introducing an assortment of dynamic rug offerings at the January 26-30 Las Vegas Market designed to help retailers spark additional business. Introductions include seven new styles being added to the popular Avanti collection. A hand-tufted, all wool designs from India, Avanti’s new patterns include Eleanor in ice blue; Kazak in slate terra; Keshan in red/navy; Medallion in ivory/denim; Oushak in natural/multi; Panel in greystone; and Wyman in ink. This collection, which features a loop pile construction, is available in 3’6” x 5’6”, 5’x 8’, 8’ x 10’, 9’ x 12’ and 10’ x 14’ sizes, as well as a 2’6” x 8’ runner. A 5’ x 8’ rug may retail for under $349.
“Avanti’s elegant, hand tufted construction has made it a very strong performer,” said Cameron Capel, president – sales and marketing for Capel Rugs. “The new patterns we’re adding this season take the collection in a more traditional direction but with very on trend, up-to-date colors. And all of these new designs are being offered at the same great quality and same great price.”
Also being expanded at the Las Vegas Market is Bayview, a contemporary, made in the U.S. braided collection now available in metal and lambswool colorways. This best-selling design is constructed of wool, nylon and polyester and features a luxe, subtly textured, 5/8-inch-high pile inspired by the soothing, gently rippling currents of water. Available in a wide range of cross-sewn rectangle and oval/round shapes, Bayview also is offered in five other colorways – sage, granite, twilight blue, cinnabar and neutral. A 5’ x 8’ oval model may retail for under $549.
The additions to Bayview, Capel said, are a response to customer requests. “Our dealers and designers have been asking for another grey variation to go with the ‘taupe-y’ toned pattern that’s been doing so well for us," said Capel. "Grey continues to be a very hot color, so we expect this unique metal colorway to build on that success.
"The lambswool colorway provides another fashion-forward option that highlights the awesome textural construction. This design also is reversible, which makes it very versatile and durable.”
Texture continues to play a major role in Capel Rugs’ introductions. To highlight the exciting dimension that texture brings to rugs, the company is creating a special display in the front window of its showroom this market featuring two highly tactile and tonal collections introduced at the October High Point Market — Abingdon and Raza.
Hand woven in India, Abingdon blends New Zealand wool and Indian wool to create a relaxed, highly textural design. Subtle striations of organic colors enhance the casual, beefy appeal, with three colorways available – granite , ink and sesame.
Capel Rugs’ new Raza collection, which is also making its Las Vegas debut, captures the feeling of a relaxing retreat. This tactile design is machine made of easy-care olefin, with a plush, inviting texture. Raza is available in three soothing neutral tones – denim, mushroom and stone.
During the winter market, Capel Rugs also will be featuring several well-received new collections introduced in October. They include two new collections added to the WILLIAMSBURG at Home® line – Arcadia and Goa Garden. Arcadia, an oversized floral rendering of a timeless 18th-century design from the archives of Colonial Williamsburg, is a hand tufted wool design in three colorways – sage, indigo and stone. It features space-dyed yarns as well as a sheered high-low texture for a striking three-dimensional effect.
Goa Garden, the second recent addition to the WILLIAMSBURG at Home® line, features hints of arabesques and paisley shapes, echoing designs on textiles exported by the British East India Company to England, and from there to British colonies, during the 18th century. Hand loomed of 60% viscose and 40% wool with a high-low pile texture and double-back treatment, Goa Garden is available in three colorways — pewter, blue slate and sapphire.
Other new designs from High Point making their debut in Capel Rugs’ Las Vegas showroom include Wanderer, a new braided design sewn by Capel’s own artisans at the company’s plant in Troy, N.C. Wanderer conveys a traveled, collected look by merging global influences with a melting pot of color and exaggerated textures. Five colorways are available – ocean blue, global blue, deep blue, spice and cognac.
To promote its latest introductions, as well as other popular models across the Capel Rugs line, a special “Buy More, Save More” promotion is being offered this market. The promotion starts with a 10% discount on the purchase of any five 5’ x 8’ rugs in the company’s line, both new and existing collections. For purchases of six to 10 rugs sized 5’ x 8’, buyers will receive a 15% discount, and purchases of 11 or more rugs get a 20% discount.
