Many Moons Design

Our mission is to give the past a new life, and our drive is to supply the highest quality reclaimed building products. The entirety of this socially responsible design began with one simple concept - free wood. For me it began in the humble depths of a dumpster, where, destined for the landfill, came the first inspirations.  For Tommy, my husband and partner in crime, the inspiration came from a barn. He left his cushy CPA career because he’d rather hang from that barn than crunch numbers, though his need for consistency, order, and structure remained and found its way into our handcrafted pieces.
 
We’ve since discovered new sources of free wood, such as the four board horse farm fencing. Materials such as this allow us to do what we genuinely love, take wood that would normally see a lifespan of about 5 years and transform it into a piece that can easily see 100. We have a respect for the provenance and heritage of this material, which inspires us to preserve even more. Because of this, after creating our free wood projects, we’re left with a free wood pile of our own and we reuse this material to continue the process of creating a truly green line of furniture. 
 
We’re passionate about old growth lumber, not just for its sustainability, but for the deep color and rich patina that cannot be imitated by today’s harvested lumber. We love the beauty and history of each and every one of our handcrafted wood projects.
 
We had no idea where free wood could lead us. From individual pieces of furniture to high-end retailers, upscale restaurants, and whole store fit-ups. The possibilities are endless and we could not be prouder or more excited to continue our commitment to responsible lumber products and the preservation of our natural environment.
