Our history is one of truly realizing the American dream. Founded in 1979, Mercedes Electric Supply was the creation of two eager entrepreneurs, Mercedes and Victor LaPorta. Mercedes, a Cuban born immigrant, and her husband Victor have built Mercedes Electric Supply from a common passion, philosophy and work ethic. This philosophy, of building solid relationships and putting the customer first, has allowed them to grow the business from a company of two to a successful corporation of 45 employees.

Mercedes Electric Supply’s first location was a 1,000 square foot warehouse that distributed a single product line, Sylvania light bulbs. Mercedes and Victor built upon their core philosophy of establishing both customer and vendor relationships, and within just six short years the company experienced considerable growth. In 1985, Mercedes Electric Supply expanded its product line, moved to a new 11,000 square foot facility which included a 4,000 square foot office to accommodate a staff of 13, and added two trucks to its fleet.

In less than a decade, Mercedes Electric Supply became a leader in the distribution of electrical equipment in Florida. In 1990, our company became a Square D Premier Distributor and in 1996, Square D selected Mercedes Electric to be their exclusive authorized distributor of its High Tech products for South Florida.

We expanded once again in 1995 by purchasing a 20,000 square foot warehouse and an 8,000 square foot office space which now accommodates our staff of 45. This enabled us to grow again which resulted in Mercedes Electric Supply being placed on the list of The 250 Largest Electrical Distributors in the United States in 1999.

Today Mercedes Electric Supply maintains over $3,000,000 of inventory and operates a fleet of six trucks.
Through our emphasis on innovative, environmentally sustainable and value-added programs, systems and services, we can simplify the maintenance of existing lighting systems and recommend ways to “Green” new construction.
