 Modernseed represents the beginning; the first to market in kids contemporary retail - the sprouting of something fresh and innovative for modern families.  The story begins like this – In 2001, Melissa Pfeiffer was searching for a simple dress for her two-year-old daughter and could not find one. Spurred by her vision for the ideal piece of children’s apparel, Pfeiffer sat down at her sewing machine and created the dress that she pictured her little girl wearing. Pfeiffer was pleased with her creation so she continued sewing little dresses, just as she imagined them, until she had a set of dresses before her. This lovely collection represented a new category in children’s clothing but more importantly planted the seed for a larger concept.
 
 Over the next 2 years - Pfeiffer’s epiphany flooded into all corners of her home. She was faced with an obvious disconnect between her families lifestyle, the modern aesthetic of her home and the children’s clothing, furniture and toys that were readily available for her children. Pfeiffer wanted to create a straightforward source for modern children’s design that spanned all categories. Driven to create a store concept never done before, Pfeiffer decided to take her concept to the Web and create Modernseed – the first resource for All Things Modern for the Mini™.
 
 Modernseed’s founders have a solid background in business, design and families. Melissa Pfeiffer, mother of two, left a 12-year graphic designer career to join forces with Shanette Westphal, a successful businesswoman, art collector and mother of three. Together, they run Modernseed with a strong passion for the needs the modern family and an unerring sense of style.
