We recently celebrated our 60th anniverary and honored the memory of our grandfather George Rhodes. Paw Paw grew up in poverty, no shoes and sometimes no food. Growing up, he made a promise to himself that his wife and children would never have to experience what he had experienced as a child. So, he worked all day and went to trade school at night. Before he knew it, he had not only provided a living for his family, but he laid down the ground work for a business that has grown into what it is today.

In 1948, G.W. and Mary Ann were married. Our grandfather was once asked, “Why did You marry Mary Ann?” He answered, “Because she would make me a better person.” Paw Paw was always trying to find a way to better himself, weather it was joining the military, going to school, or just helping out a fellow friend. He wanted to teach everyone how to have a better life and how to become somebody. If you can leave here with one lesson that G.W. and Mary Ann though us, it would be to learn everything you can and don’t be afraid to take chances.

In 1973, George William, Jr, better known as “Rocky” joined the business. He is now the proud owner and president of what we know today as Rhodes Flooring America.

As our grandmother says, "Come See Us!"
