It was almost 30 years ago—Jan. 7, 1979, to be exact—that the industry attended the City of Hope’s Golden Torch of Hope Award Banquet in the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Chicago. The event was held during the Chicago winter market and honored Peter Spirer, president of Horizon Industries. This photo was taken during the cocktail hour and includes, from left, Jordan Issackedes, president of General Felt Industries; Harry Pearson, president of Congoleum Corp.; Frank Greenberg, president of Burlington Industries and master of ceremonies, and Walter Guinan, industry icon and recently retired president of Karastan Rug Mills.
