In development: Installer database, Inspector database...

We are in the process of developing a comprehensive Installer and Inspector database where consumers, dealers, and manufacturers can simply enter a zipcode and be able to access business information in their respective area.

By leveraging the strength of FloorBiz, Installers and Inspectors will be able to register for free and benefit from the exposure our existing traffic of over 3,800,000 unique visitors a year will provide them.

Our goal is to help generate much needed revenue for the individual professional struggling to survive in a very difficult economy.

Stay tuned for more information and updates as it becomes available.

I know this site is very popular amongst the manufacturing and retailer community.

I got a call already from my ad. The guy is nationwide, does high end stuff.

Thanks again David.

Interesting, David, is it a comprehensive listing or by invitation only?

Is it something that everyone has to ask to be listed?

I'm allowed to ask LOTS of questions, you see I am an inspector!Sticking TongueEnvious

Not at all but I am glad to see it.
After all the BS I got at FCI I am not wasting my time try to help installers.

I simply do not have time anyway,I hardly have time to stop in here.

I will use the database Dave sets up, I am going to pull all the info off my site and chalk it up as wasted time and money. I was paying for every click I got to that page, no more freebies.
Hang tight! I will be right back I gotta go remove the advertising.

David, how are you going to make sure the installer's are doing it the way they say they do on the board or boards? I have given names out for diffrent people on the diffrent site's and have been burned a few times with the person calling me back telling me the issues they had with the installer and it was not just carpet so now I do some research on the person before giving out name's.
I got a call last week from a company out of lower PA that has 5 stores that need people that can work with woven's and I told them it would take me a few weeks to check a few installers out.
I just got a call yesterday from Jim Boyds Flooring America looking for some good sub's but could only give him two names that I was sure of.I
guess what I am saying is when someone comes to you looking for work you ask for refrences because they will tell you they never had a call back and that is in person.

I never recommend anyone anymore either because I have been
burned also,
inspector, installers, cleaners, never do it anymore,,,,

a simple disclaimer should take care of that,,,,but,,,this idea is
good and will help lower cost for installers and
inspectors,,,,some schools and companies cost just keep going
up and up and up, and the price for inspections for example
has, like for installers, lagged far behind the cost of living
upward spiral,

One mill I know wants inspections for my area, carpet, done for
125,,,,I was charging that much several years ago! Gas prices are
not the same today, as we know, as they were back in 1998 to
2001,,,oh well,

I agree it is a very good idea but I think the installer or inspector should be ask for refrences and answer question's before being put on the list.

hey,
I try never to travel anymore,,,I mean, next month, NOFMA in
Memphis is about all I do anymore,,,,

but, if the price is right,,,,I will go,,,,

I get at least one phone call or email a week now asking how
much work I am getting, like I have a secret to get more
work,,,when, the truth is, they are not selling product, so, if the
retailers are not selling, how do they think we can be looking at
them?

Some people think because they are not working as much, it
must be other inspectors doing the work,,, duh, are we as a
whole that dumb? sales are down across the board,,, times are
slow, means inspections are slow,,,,,duhhhhhhhhh

I will travel now, hate to, don't want to, but, will travel....to my
hammock in my back yard!

David this could be very beneficial to all legal installers and inspectors that still love there jobs. Roland has a good point references are a must. I also agree with Selva, a disclaimer to cover you. I don’t think you will have any problems let them know up front that Selva is hungry for blood and the installer will do there jobs rightWorried Big Smile. I also think there are enough professional craft men here that will help get things straighten out when things go south on a project.

I think, I see an idea for a new Fox TV series, Selva, the vampire
floor inspector hunted by Ray and his sidekick, Linda, carrying
relentlessly a wood stake fashioned out of a Teak floor...for ever
searching the back alleys and deep dark hiding spaces of the
vampire inspectors!

It's basically programming...

Roger,

It's a programming issue. Thanks for asking though.

Our programming guru is working hard to develop the code to make this work.
