Roland and I were in Tulsa for the first "Building Bridges not Walls" conference, sponsored by FITS and TFP. The purpose is to help installers understand the role of inspectors in the flooring business, and help inspectors realize some of the challanges of the installers.

We had a wonderful time and shared a ton of great information. Had 21 participants and started planning for next year. It will be well planned and advertised for next April.

Well I made it home after some delays at the airports. I do not mind because I would much rather set at the airport then have them try and fly if things are not safe. Got home at 3am this morning and then a few hours of sleep and up and off to church and then to dinner with the wife and family.
When I first got there and found out some of the inspectors that I was looking forward to meeting and talking to had canncelled for some reason or other I was disappionted. Then we started the meeting and people started talking and going over how everyone installers inspectors and mills need to work together to reach the same goal, that is to help and give the customer the very best.
Another thing I was very happy with is at no time did anyone talk about or down about any one or any other organzation, as a mater of fact they said that there are good inspectors in all the other organzations as us that was CFI on how there are great installers that have not got certifiyed.
It was a good time ( even though they started picking on me for talking just a little ) Looking forward to next year and hope one's that did not make it this years will take the time to try and be there.

"Talking just a little"

Tandy told him to pipe down and others threw paper wads at him to get him to shut up. All I did was try to defend poor old Daris when Roland would not let him talk.

Sounds like you guys had a good time.

Good for you...

I bet you were anxious to meet me too........ LOL...

Inspectors not showing up: This is a bad year to ask inspectors to spend money traveling..... We gotta use our time and money wisely this year... Also;;; Politics is the downfall of us Inspectors....

Ray, you are right, the installers know of the politics that goes on in the inspection field.

IICRC When all these groups fight among
NICFI themselves, others tend to not
FCITS take them seriously.
FITS
AFS

Also they are scared of brokerage services, they see some brokerages advertising on home inspectors message boards for home inspectors to do floor inspections for as little as $75 bucks. A typical check off report and so they lump all inspectors into one pot. They feel anybody can be an inspector and be out to "hang" them.

Here is an ad I found:

10263 Carpet Inspection/Wasaga Beach, Ontario, Canada (Compensation Negotiable)
We have a need for a carpet to be inspected in Wasaga Beach, Ontario. You will be required to take pictures, follow a checklist and obtain a sample of the carpet. This is a relatively easy inspection. Compensation negotiable. You are responsible for ...

That is off an insurance inspectors board, posted by a National brokerage service.

Now now Roger Tandy did not tell me to pipe down it was I that told him to set down. Russ thru that paper wad at me when I ask him if when he installed was he a hack or good installer.

Let me say that we all developed a respect for each other that things where and could be said in the right manner and have a little fun with it.

But now that we are back I am getting beat up a little, but that is ok I did had it out when I was there.
Roger you can leave the other stuff queit.
