| 3/13/2008 2:04:26 PM How not to be at odds/Installers
From watching many boards over the years, I've seen many games, from board operators and owners, manipulating whatever they want--to enrichen themselves at the installers expense, to making the installers fight each other, for the scraps they choose to scatter upon the ground.
It's bad enough that certain elements have for decades, pitted one against another and so on, to make themselves richer and richer. They have told all, that they cannot pay one more than another, because all will want more.
In so doing and the rush to do more and more, there is no room left for getting along, but then it is not wanted that we should get along. The US is simply a dog eat dog society, headed down it's path of destruction. It used to be just this industry at the inseption of taking everything from the hardest working, while pitting them one against another, but it seems now this whole nation is coming to such.
Because of this, our middle class is about done for, which means some 70% of the population will not be able to keep up with all that is demanded. Many many of the smaller businessmen and women selling bigger ticket items, like cars, washers and dryers, floor-covering, homes, the insurances for the homes, healthcare and so much more, are beginning to falter and go out of business.
This trend will not stop, because housing, healthcare, food prices, the costs for raising children and so many things are becoming un-affordable.
Ya'll want and expect so much for darn near nothing and ya'll are creating Americas downfall. Every single board out here has nothing but fighting, save a tiny few and even these are endangered, as we are taught to fight each other. Many look for the fighting, because that is what they have been taught all their lives.
How many of us are not taught such? How many have been taught to create the fighting, so they can take all they want?
How do men like us---installers---deal with each other in a decent manner, when all we know is fighting? Anybody can fight---well, almost anybody and everybody has an opinion, as the animals we are, so what sets us apart from all the other animals and what sets installers apart from all others that prove they either want us all to fight or they set one against another?
As I see it, there is but one thing that can accomplish that and that is, finding the proof and joining together, to fight the ignorance of an entire industry, bent on the destruction of an entire nation, for the sake of money. Even if they have all the money, if no one else can buy what they sell, what they have is useless and hated.
Bring proof everytime you come to enrichen any place, for without it, you bring nothing. Proof can come in the form of common sense explanations and or testing--with common sense descriptions, that we can use to know for sure. If you don't test, you will forget with time and if you don't use it, you will also forget with time, unless an entire board of people are refreshing each others memories in many things.
In other words, it would seem the only way for installers to find common ground and not fight each other, is to constantly look for the proof and bring that. Different people may do testing, but they may do it with different things or in different ways and if you can show cause as to why there may be a better way, simply bring proof.

There is an awful saying, but it is true. "He who laughs last, laughs best". Considering that statement--installers, it doesn't seem to be what you don't know right now, but what you won't know in the future, if you don't lose your hatred and fighting.
I have watched carefully and most of the things you have been given, you don't remember, because you were either too angry or you hated that others knew more than you.
Let it go, get involved wherever you are and stay away from the ones that would fight and make you fight or take sides. Take the side of common sense and proof only and let the others destroy themselves.

I must say that for me to even have a chance to do the above, I needed safe haven and so far, this site and David---the administrator-- have allowed me that.
If you like other sites, tell them what you want and either make them give it to you, or go somewhere else.
Life is too short to fight. We are on-line to learn and become a viable part. You may be a small part or a large part, but with time, we are all equalled, if we pay close attention, test and above all, make it happen.

If all of us would accept personal responsibility for our work and behaviour, there would be no need for this discussion.
the problems stem from ego, anger and mostly mis-understandings.
What do you think Stephen? Jim, Perry, Dave?

This could simply be Jim purging the effects of abuse he experienced on other boards.
I agree with you Ray, that if we all focus on our own situation here on FloorBiz and simply ignore the dross in our industry, we will be a lot happier.
Keep in mind that everyone that wishes to participate on the FloorBiz Forum must now be validated, and this process will hopefully weed out the complainers and nay-sayers who contribute nothing- but rather stir up contention and division.

Divide and Conquer !! IS the goal of War.
I say we don't do that here. Installers/Sales/Manufacturing/Inspectors.............. we are all in the same Industry and depend on each other.
Simple as that.
