Cleveland, Ohio—Garland Floor Co. has announced the sale of the firm to ICS Building Technologies Corp., a construction chemicals firm with operations in Japan, Asia Pacific and North America. The sale was effective on Jan. 1.
The newly formed company, ICS Garland, will continue operations in exactly the same manner and will remain in Cleveland. The company is known internationally for its expertise in manufacturing industrial and commercial flooring, said Bryon Smith, a principal in ICS, who has assumed the role of CEO. Ken Hughes, formerly vice president of sales and marketing, succeeds Jon Wise as president. Wise remains with the firm as an executive.
“Working in Japan and the Asia Pacific market for the past seven years, I saw a dramatic need for an international company willing to localize its business,” said Smith. “ICS Building Technologies Corp. is an energetic construction chemicals company that leverages its strong brand names and technologies around the globe. The company chooses to focus efforts on the world’s two largest economies, USA and Japan, and the world’s fastest growing economy, China.”
