CERSAIE 2012 Preview: Monocibec, Century and Naxos bring unique originality to modern spaces

A thorough study of the expressive potential of materials belonging to different housing styles, as applied to ceramic production techniques and aesthetics developed by the research laboratories of the Sassuolo-based manufacturer, has created original and elegant collections that offer new expressive opportunities for architects, planners and interior designers.



Cement, which Monocibec reinvented in the Nextra collection, becomes a material graced with either soft, elegant aesthetics or solid and contemporary when it comes to hues and finishes. Ideal solutions for residential or commercial spaces as the brushed effect becomes a characterizing feature which is not invasive.

NEXTRA
Symbol of construction par excellence, cement has become increasingly widespread in interior decoration, expressing its aesthetic potential in harmony with a contemporary living style. Nextra is the new Monocibec fine porcelain stoneware collection that captures the density of cement, expressing all its strength with unprecedented smoothness.

The five colours (Bianco, Avorio, Grigio, Piombo and Nero) are available with natural or polished surface finish and can be used in both residential and commercial environments. Nextra is available in four formats 45x45, 30x60, 60x60 and 80x80 to meet any customisation requirement.

The collection is Bureau Veritas-certified for the presence of 40% of recycled materials and is ANAB-ICEA-certified for bio construction.

Wood, transformed into porcelain stoneware by Century in the Arbor collection, rediscovers its vocation as a construction material ideal for indoor and outdoor flooring thanks to the grosgrain finish which enhances grip, and which can also be used for dressing walls.


ARBOR
Arbor is a collection of wood-inspired floors with high technical performance in perfect Century style. The naturalness of the surfaces is evident to the touch and sight and comes in five different modern hues (White, Black, Brown, Grey and Beige).

Arbor comes in rectified and natural surface formats – 16.2 X 100 and 12.2 X 100. The larger format is also available with a grosgrain surface for improved grip, ideal for outdoor use.

With this collection, Century offers its clients an exclusive product of rare elegance which can be used in either domestic or residential contexts. The collection also boasts Bureau Veritas certification because the tiles are made with 40% recycled material giving the purchaser annual CO2 compensation credits and ANAB-ICEA for green construction.

Leccese stone, paired with wood, metal and glazes, creates a brand new style developed by Naxos as part of the Project collection. The name itself clearly identifies a desire for an innovative and original look, an incomparable style that knows no limits.

PROJECT
Naxos conceived the Project collection of wall tiles to offer interior designers novel and personalized ideas wherein wood and stone come together creating a brand new style. The range of six colours inspired on Leccese stone come in three sizes – 32.5 X 97.7, 25 x 59.5 and 32.5 X 32.5 – and can be combined with the two wood-inspired colours that come in 16.2 X 97.7 tiles.

The choice of materials and formats – all perfectly rectified and satin finished – allows you to dress the walls in an original and elegant manner. Meticulous research on ceramic material has, furthermore, resulted in a vast selection of decorative choices wherein the variations of thickness, ultra-shiny finishes and the addition of metallic materials open up an even further range for personalization and expression.

The Project collection is completed with coordinated flooring made of 45 x 45 and 60 x 60 tiles of porcelain stoneware. The collection has ANAB-ICEA green construction certification.

CERSAIE 2012 will also feature the celebration of the conclusion of the second edition of the Quinquennial Tile Award, the international competition organized by Fincibec and dedicated to those who create the spaces we live in. The winning architects and planners will be the stars of an exclusive - by invitation only - evening gala event.
