Wayne and Michelle Southworth, owners of MWI Enterprises, Inc./Fiber-Shield® of Boston, are pleased to be one of the 2012 honorees of the Excellence in Design Awards, given by the New England Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID). The Southworths will be recognized with the other honorees at the 2012 ASID New England Awards Gala March 22, 2012 at the InterContinental Hotel, Boston.
ASID New England is the oldest and largest professional organization for interior designers with over 20,000 members. Their annual Gala is a decades old tradition boasting an impressive list of awards honorees who have earned the respect of their peers and the interior design industry. The Excellence in Design Award recognizes those men and women who have been champions of the interior design field through leadership, national standing and design excellence.

Wayne and Michelle Southworth founded MWI Enterprises, Inc./Fiber-Shield® in 1989. Known industry-wide as New England’s premier fine fabric and custom carpet care company, the Southworth's are called upon regularly to speak about the chemistry and science of protection and cleaning of fine fibers and carpeting with the region’s top interior designers, architects, design institutions, colleges, and a variety of trade publications. They have been referred by award-winning designers and architects to their clients both verbally and in testimonials. Michelle & Wayne have received many honors throughout the years from ASID, IFDA, the BDC, and many other organizations for their tireless dedication to the trade. They are the only service company in New England to receive the ASID’s prestigious National Industry Foundation Merit Award, which was the sole unanimous choice in the country that year.
Michelle Southworth served as Chair of Industry Foundation for four years starting in 1990, and served on the Board and virtually every other committee for over 10 years. Her leadership solidified the bond between designer and industry. Wayne Southworth served as past president of The New England Chapter of the International Furnishings and Design Association and is currently on the Board of Directors of ASID New England.
Since 1989, Michelle & Wayne Southworth and MWI Fiber-Shield® have been major supporters of the AIDS Action Committee.
