CHICAGO, I.L. – (JUNE 2, 2010) – Gerflor, a global leader in the design and manufacture of specialized resilient flooring, today announced the launch of its new bio-based Mipolam Symbioz vinyl flooring. This homogenous vinyl floor covering is suited for heavy foot traffic areas and contains more than 75% renewable raw materials with a bio-based plasticizer made from grain residues like wheat and corn. Its composition gives way to 40 times lower VOC emissions set by European environmental standards.
Symbioz also comes with a new patented micro structured, cross coat polymer surface treatment called Evercare to provide the ultimate protection against micro scratching, stains and chemicals.
“From the manufacturing processes and raw materials used, to the transport, installation and lifecycle performance of Symbioz, we are excited to introduce this new vinyl flooring to the U.S.,” says Ken Chmura, Gerflor USA General Manager. “With its low environmental impact, Symbioz is proof positive our organization is committed to the sustainable development of new vinyl flooring products.”
“It is wonderful to see a company’s commitment to sound environmental R&D principles,” says Robyn Dubick, IIDA, LEED AP, CR Goodman Associates. “The environmental credentials of Gerflor’s vinyl flooring products are striking, but equally impressive is its commitment in providing eye-catching, colorful designs that perform great in high traffic spaces.”
