ADAIRSVILLE, GA.—Wood flooring producer Home Legend has acquired the assets of Baker’s Creek Wood Flooring, maker of engineered wood flooring based in Edwards, Miss. No financial terms of the transaction were disclosed.
The acquisition, noted Home Legend’s CEO Clint Hubbard, through its wholly owned subsidiary Home Legend Manufacturing, “expands our product line and gives the company domestic manufacturing capacity.”
Previously, all of Home Legend’s engineered wood products were produced in China. According to Hubbard, “this acquisition not only reduces our dependence on foreign supply for engineered hardwood, it gives us a high-quality, upper-end extension to our existing product line.” Baker’s Creek will remain as a brand of Home Legend.
Baker’s Creek was founded by Shannon Fuller, who was instrumental in the turnaround of Capella Wood Floors prior to its acquisition by Armstrong (
FCNews, March 20/27, 2006).
The Edwards, Miss., plant was built in 2007. Fuller plans to stay with Home Legend after the acquisition. Hubbard said all Baker’s Creek employees will remain and that the company plans to expand the facility.
Home Legend supplies engineered wood, bamboo, laminate and area rugs. Three years ago the company expanded its channel approach beyond the home centers and now has a division that focuses on independent flooring retailers.
