CHICAGO – The North American Association of Floor Covering Distributors (NAFCD) announced Chris O’Connor, of CMH Space Flooring Products (Wadesboro, NC), as the 2010 winner of its Leadership in Action award during the first annual Distributor Marketplace conference and trade show in Colorado Springs, Colorado, co-hosted by the NAFCD and the North American Building Material Distribution Association.

The Leadership in Action award recognizes a leader in floor covering whose ideas and contributions have advanced the industry. It also recognizes the role this leader’s respective company has played in supporting and executing his or her ideas.

Recommending O’Connor for this award, CMH Space CEO Hoy Lanning stated, “Chris’s financial knowledge, vision, and ability to execute goals have made him an outstanding leader. He has helped plan and execute a long-term program that has made CMH Space one of the top five distributors in the U.S.”

Throughout his 10 years with CMH Space, the company has expanded organically and through acquisitions that have positioned it for success and growth in the future. O’Connor’s negotiation and financial skills helped him execute a number of these acquisitions and effectively bring these companies into the fold of the CMH Space family.

Leadership in Action award recipients are nominated annually by fellow NAFCD members. Candidate submissions are reviewed and selected by a committee of volunteer leaders, based on demonstrated leadership, innovation, and positive effect on their company and the floor covering industry.
