CFI To Host Woven Patterned Carpet Workshop Hands-On Course For Residential, Commercial Installers
Article Number: 614

Kansas City, Mo.—Due to the overwhelming response to its previous Patterned Carpet Work-shops, the International Certified Floorcovering Installers Assocaition (CFI) will hold a session on woven patterned carpets at the Kansas City Airport Exposition Center here, Nov. 10 and 11.

The two-day event “will provide ideal hands-on training for commercial and residential installers who are searching for installation techniques and solutions to problems that surface in the field,” said Jim Walker, CFI’s CEO.

“This is a working event to introduce new techniques and tools for the installation of woven and patterned carpets,” he explained. “Participants will be working with large sections of carpet, constructing seams, powerstretching, pattern matching and learning methods that enhance the value of their skills.”

Walker, along with CFI’s Ed Braile, Jon Namba, Robert Varden, and its team of installation trainers, along with technical specialists from carpet manufacturers will provide demonstrations and training. The event is sponsored by Burtco, Mohawk, Shaw, AAT, APAC, Halex, Leggett & Platt, Nexico, Roberts, Seam Master and SCI.

The course counts toward continuing education credits (CECs) toward CFI’s R-II and C-II certification. This past February, CFI has made attendance at specified training courses a requirement before achieving the R-II and C-II levels. CECs for this class will be awarded based on the skill level and knowledge demonstrated at the conclusion of the event.

Day one begins at 8 a.m. and runs through 5 p.m., while the second day starts at 7:30 a.m. and concludes at 4:30 p.m. CFI officials noted that many flights depart the nearby airport after 5:30 p.m., allowing attendees to fly home immediately following the training course.

The Exposition Center is 10 minutes from the airport. While the facility has an abundance of space to host such an event, the large areas needed for individual training means the number of participants will be limited, so registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Cost to attend the class is $620 and includes the 60-page hardbound CFI Patterned Resource Guide, video and lunches. Participants will be given a list of tools to bring with them. The Resource Guide and video can also be purchased separately for $100.

CFI has arranged a special room rate of $59, including round-trip airport transportation, with the Aiport Fairfield Inn. Call 800/228-2800 and ask for the CFI lodging rate. For more information on the Woven Patterned Carpet Workshop or to register, the Resource Guide and video, call 816/231-4646.
