AUSTINTOWN, OHIO—Ryan Carpet Sales & Service recently dropped 50,000 pounds after announcing its commitment to help keep carpet out of the landfill. After saving carpet from dozens of jobs since the summer of ’08, the store recently delivered its first tractor-trailer of old, replaced carpet— totaling 50,000 pounds—to a local Mohawk reclamation center last year. And, Ryan’s has no intention to stop shedding the weight.

“A lot of our clients are very happy with our commitment to do this,” explained Jim Eickelman, president. “Although this program is done at a significant expense to us, we believe it is the right thing to do, and have incorporated it into our sales program to attract new customers who are also green-minded. We are already well on our way to filling a second trailer and intend to keep this practice in place well into the future.”
