LAS VEGAS—Surfaces once again amplifies its exhibitions this year with the “Above the Baseboard” pavilion (formerly Elevations), a 7,200 square-foot space geared toward designers and combination retailers that incorporates products from the ground up to give a rounded idea of a renovated kitchen or bath.
“Consumers are looking for a one-stop-shop when it comes to remodeling or redecorating their home,” said Kelly Cooper, marketing manager at Surfaces. “They want to see the flooring, cabinets, window coverings and wall color all together. Retailers are now carrying other products to be that one-stop-shop for their customer.”
She added that Surfaces is attempting to broaden the product breadth at the show, “so retailers and designers can see Surfaces is stepping up their product selection to meet their needs.”
More than 20 companies will be exhibiting under the pavilion, from stone and tile to cabinetry and window treatments. Above the Baseboard will be located on the lower level in Hall G, open from Feb. 2 to 4.
To further enhance attendee benefits, Cooper also announced Surfaces entered into a partnership with World Market Center Las Vegas, an international home furnishings showcase featuring more than 1,500 manufacturers of floor covering, home furnishings and accessories.
“We view Las Vegas Market as a complementary event to ours,” said Dana Teague, director of Surfaces. “By joining forces, we are providing our attendees the opportunity to experience two great shows in one week, saving on expenses—which is essential right now.”
The partnership will offer benefits such as registration credentials, transportation vouchers, education discounts and access to a number of special events such as Designer Day, to be held Wednesday, Feb. 3, sponsored by Surfaces. Included will be a behind-the-scenes tour of Encore, the brand new sister property of Wynn Las Vegas, a tour of the show floor and lunch with HGTV’s Kim Myles. Las Vegas Market attendees will also receive a 25% discount on Designer Day events.
“Synergies between the shows will be a great service to exhibitors and attendees alike,” said Philip McKay, senior vice president at World Market Center. The partnership is expected to extend into 2011.
In addition, Stone-Expo/Marmomacc Americas will co-locate with Surfaces at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center next year. “The addition of natural stone and other surface materials offers attendees a more comprehensive buying, education and networking experience,” Teague concluded.
