CRI develops retention rating system
Article Number: 5111

DALTON—The institute that provides guidance on issues such as sustainability and VOC emissions in carpet has now addressed texture appearance and retention. The Carpet & Rug Institute (CRI) developed the Texture Appearance Retention Rating System (TARR) to help professionals choose the appropriate strength for durability in commercial carpeting.

TARR lays out six steps from location assessment to specifying a cleaning and maintenance plan. It also includes information on choosing proper color, design, type and backing. An end-use application chart identifies different commercial businesses, the amount of traffic that they would see and assigns a numeric rating.

To view or download a copy of the TARR brochure, go to carpet-rug.org.
