GAINESVILLE, VA.—Recently, at the Heritage Hunt Golf and Country Club, located just outside the nation’s capital, golfers from all over the country joined together to raise funds and awareness for the fight against Multiple Sclerosis (MS).

Spearheaded by Phil and Kathy Halcomb, the 15th Annual David Allen Co. MS Golf Tournament was a huge success, raising an impressive $70,000 to support local programs and services offered by the National Capital Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Top sponsors for the 2009 tournament included Laticrete, Dal-Tile, T&M Supply and the David Allen Co. corporate office.

Twenty years ago, Kathy Halcomb was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, an unpredictable disease of the central nervous system that can eventually lead to paralysis. A few years later she got involved with a support group for people living with MS, and soon after joining realized what little financial support the group had. An idea was born to host a golf tournament to raise additional funds. In its first year, the David Allen Co. MS Golf Tournament raised $800. Since 2004, the tournament has raised over $316,000.

The David Allen Co.—which focuses on concept design and installation for ceramic tile, marble, stone, terrazzo and epoxy flooring—is currently working on plans for next year’s tournament, set for Friday, Sept. 17, 2010.
