TEMPLE, TEX.—Imagine a floor tough enough to stand up to the thrills and spills of women’s flat-track derby racing. In a vivid juxtaposition of family life and grueling professional derby competition,
Wilsonart Flooring recently proved itself a worthy opponent against three real-life Carolina Rollergirls.
The “competition” took place on a Wilsonart photography set at Tribuzio-Hilliard Studios in North Carolina. Said Tammy Weadock, marketing manager for Wilsonart, “We wanted a creative and fun way to visually portray our ‘Commercially Tested - Family Proven’ brand attributes. The blending of a traditional residential kitchen with the fast-dodging, hard-hitting Rollergirls— and their loyal family fans—allowed us to create imagery that speaks volumes about our flooring’s performance and durability.” The photography will be used in dealer communication, at point of sale and other applications.
The final image features Rollergirls Krewesader Kate, Deviled Legs and M.C. Fyte trying to overtake little Alexa, who is getting ready to join her set mom Gaye at the kitchen island for a snack. As she rolled into the kitchen in her HEELYS-wheeled footwear, Alexa commented on how much fun she was having with HEELYS indoors. “I can’t wear HEELYS in our house,” Alexa said. “My mom doesn’t want me to ruin our floor. We need to get Wilsonart for rainy day play!”
Joked Weadock, “Of course derby rinks aren’t on the official ‘recommended usage’ list for our products, but it’s great knowing our flooring can take that kind of abuse in stride.” In fact, flooring on the set showed no trace of wear or scuffing.
“Tested in literally thousands of public spaces,” she concluded, “from clinics and retail stores to restaurants and racquetball courts, Wilsonart Flooring delivers best- in-league performance while requiring only minimal care.”
