LATICRETE, a global leader in the manufacturing of innovative systems for the installation of tile and stone, has announced the Green Building Council of Australia has awarded products submitted by LATICRETE Australia with “Green Star” certificates for meeting VOC content test requirements. Through independent third-party testing conducted by Consulting Enterprises in Technology (CETEC) and Foray Laboratories Pty Ltd, according to South Coast Air Quality Management Division Rule 1168, LATICRETE Australia has an entire range of products Green Star certified for emitting low levels of VOCs including self-leveling compounds, mortars, grouts, and thin-set and stone adhesives for the installation of tile and stone.
The Green Building Council of Australia developed the Green Star program to be a national, voluntary environmental rating system to evaluate the construction and design of buildings. The Green Star rating system was established to create a common language, set a standard of measurement, promote integrated building design, recognize environmental leadership, identify life-cycle impact, and raise awareness on the benefits of building green. The Green Star rating system was based in part on existing standards developed in other markets, such as England’s Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEM), and North America’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED).
