Pergo and “Today” Lend a Hand to Hurricane Victims, Laminate Flooring Donation to Aid Galveston, Texas, Residents
Article Number: 4711

Pergo, the inventor and leading manufacturer of laminate flooring, recently partnered with NBC’s “Today” show and the charity Help 4 Galveston to provide materials to assist in rebuilding homes in the Galveston, Texas, area devastated by Hurricane Ike in 2008.

The donation of 16,000 square feet of Pergo laminate floor and coordinating accessories was part of a week-long “Lend a Hand” campaign featured on the top-rated morning show. Now in its eighth year, the “Lend a Hand” series focuses on local charities that are typically lesser-known to a national audience.

On Wednesday, June 24, host Al Roker revealed truckloads of home products – including Pergo flooring – to Help 4 Galveston representatives. The segment was viewed by “Today’s” 5.4 million viewers, and the donated product will be installed in approximately 10 homes in the Galveston area.

“We are honored to have been a part of this great program and to donate our product to this worthy cause,” said George Kelley, CEO of Pergo North America. “The citizens of Galveston have experienced a very difficult year and we hope that Pergo’s donation will help some local families begin to rebuild their homes and lives.”

Help 4 Galveston is a collective group of local, state, regional and national agencies, businesses, organizations, communities and individuals working together to help the city and county of Galveston repair, restore and rebuild after the devastation of Hurricane Ike.
