Miami, FL—Cikel America, the North American subsidiary of one the world's largest vertically integrated exotic hardwood flooring manufacturers, has inked a new distribution agreement with Hockstein’s Wholesale Floorcovering in Maryland for the Greater Baltimore to Greater Richmond, Virginia corridor. Located in Capitol Heights, just outside Washington, D.C., Hockstein’s has been a leading supplier of wholesale floorcovering products for the region since 1967. Hockstein’s has thrived for over 40 years with a relationship-based philosophy and by offering high-quality products from top manufacturers, including real exotic Brazilian hardwood flooring products from Cikel.

Cikel has over one-million acres of privately owned and Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) managed forests in Brazil, and has earned a total of seven certificates from the FSC, ranging from responsible harvesting and manufacturing to the final hardwood flooring product. Cikel offers “real” exotic Brazilian hardwood to the United States marketplace. Exotic hardwood from Cikel is sustainably harvested and produced locally in Brazil, but inventoried and readily available for timely distribution in America.

“Partnering with Cikel is a great opportunity for us and our customers,” said Craig O’Connor, Hockstein’s outside sales rep for Metro Baltimore. “Cikel gives us the chance to offer our clients Lacey Act compliant exotic hardwood. It’s a complete product line and package from Brazil that you really can’t get anywhere else. The nice thing about Cikel is that they don’t just offer Brazilian Cherry, they have the entire range of specie, and it comes from its own forests. And because they harvest and produce their own hardwood it’s incredibly consistent. There is a big movement in the D.C. area for green products, and not just products that might fall under the green umbrella, but certifiable green products. In the exotics market that’s the biggest issue, where are these products coming from and where have they been.”

Cikel has 1.2 million acres of privately owned and FSC managed forests in Brazil. The firm has an ongoing commitment in making technological advancements and investments to Total Quality Control from the forest-to-the-floor… and, to maintain competitiveness within the global marketplace both today and tomorrow. Cikel America is a member of the National Wood Flooring Association and the Forest Stewardship Council.
