ATLANTA, GA, April 22, 2004―Karastan’s latest
introductions take color in fresh new directions. A spectrum of browns,
including coffee, teak and ginger, prove themselves as favorites and can
often be found combined in the most surprising, yet successful way with
colors such as the dusty purple of thistle and quarry blue.
All rug introductions outlined below carry the Wools of New
Zealand Brand. Each is cross-woven utilizing space-dyed colors and
finished with Karastan’s patented Lustre-Wash.
Townhouse
Karastan’s Townhouse is a versatile collection of six rugs
that bridge traditional and classic contemporary. Montclair leads
the series in field colors of thistle, ginger and birch. The trio
features a bold and fascinating motif of varying stylized florals, all
interconnected and linked together. The scale of its pattern is visually
impressive; however, it is Karastan’s chic use of color that arouses
real excitement. Sophisticated pairings of blues and browns can also be
found in Bedford Quarry Blue and Bedford Teak―two
introductions featuring solid centers framed by broad patterned borders.
Each is colored to coordinate with Montclair and Huntsville
Teak―a delicate floral on a rich teak brown ground.
Karastan’s Townhouse Collection comes in sizes of 2.6 x 4, 2.6
x 8, 2.9 x 5, 3.8 x 5, 5.7 x 7.11, 8 x 10, and 8.6 x 11.6. Estimated
price for the 5.7 x 7.11 is $799.
American Modern
American Modern is an adventurous group of very graphic,
abstract patterns that are a fusion of retro and future. The collection
takes advantage of Townhouse’s dramatic palette creating greater
opportunities for coordination. Included in the debut are four rugs:
Calder in Quarry Blue, featuring a formation of floating
bubble-like ovals and orbs; Mesa Thistle and Mesa Ginger,
two rugs patterned in broad brushstrokes of color that unevenly ripple
across the width of each rug; and Graycliff Teak, an assemblage
of color blocks in ivory, gold, quarry blue and a full range of browns.
American Modern is offered in sizes of 2.9 x 5, 3.8 x 5, 5.7 x
7.11 and 8 x 10.
Estimated retail for the 5.7 x 7.11 is $799.
Antique Legends
Karastan is adding Oushak to its Antique Legends
Collection of wool Axminsters. This exceptional offering is designed as
a companion piece to Karastan’s bestseller, Bakhtiyari, with
features that give the rug a warm, antique look. It is colored in
accents of red, dusty turquoise and muted greens that work in harmony
over a neutral ground. Oushak comes in sizes of 5.9 x 9, 8.8 x 10
and 8.8 x 12 and is estimated to retail at $1,199 for a 5.9 x 9.
Karastan’s introductions, along with its entire line of fashionable
rugs, will be on display at the International Home Furnishings Market ,
from April 22-28 in Market Square, showroom 120.
