Play ball! Every year, early in the baseball season, BASF would invite a group of carpet executives to New York City for a glorious weekend, which would conclude with a Sunday game at Yankee Stadium. Dick Kelly, BASF’s residential merchandise manager, planned, executed and hosted the event. The group went to the stadium in limos and watched the game from owner George Steinbrenner’s box, with a variety of food, drinks and lots of fun. Shown here, at a game in May 1988, are Al Wahnon, left, of Floor Covering News, Lee Riley and husband Jack, president of J.P. Stevens, Gulistan Carpet.
