NASSAU, BAHAMAS—Ten years ago, Space Flooring starting distributing products from rubber flooring manufacturer Roppe Corp. To say the decade has been a good move for both would be an understatement. At the mill’s distributor meeting here, Roppe honored Space with its Platinum Distributor award for the second consecutive year as well as its Distributor of the Year.

Space became only the second company in Roppe’s history to be awarded Platinum Distributor Award. The first was Professional Flooring Supply in 2006 and 2007.

“To receive both of these awards, in two consecutive years, is quite an honor,” said Kent Goodman, president of Space Flooring, which, in November, merged with CMH Flooring Products to become one of the top five flooring distributors in the nation.

The Platinum award signifies annual purchases in excess of $7.5 million in Roppe rubber flooring and cove base products.

“We have a wonderful relationship with Roppe,” he noted. “It is a tremendous partner and, because of our merger with CMH, we are very optimistic that our success will continue this year.”

“Space partnered with us in 1999,” said Bart Rogers, vice president of sales and marketing for parent Roppe Holding Co., “and it has steadily grown its business as a result of its management team being focused on supporting all the products within the Roppe brand and carrying a comprehensive stocking program to better serve its customers.” He added the Space sales staff deserves a great deal of recognition as well “for their desire to excel in product knowledge and ability to drive specifications.”

Despite the success it has had the past two years, Goodman feels there is even more opportunity for the distributor to grow its Roppe business. In fact, he believe it will climb “at a very swift pace due to the customer relationships that CMH has in the Carolinas.”
