HANNOVER, GERMANY—With two of the world’s largest tile-producing countries virtually in its backyard, the producers of Domotex Hannover announced the formation of fliesen/tiles, Germany’s first dedicated trade fair for ceramic tiles. The show will take place every two years starting in 2010 and run in conjunction with Domotex Hannover at the Hannover Exhibition Grounds.

“When we talked to industry associations and manufacturers, they confirmed the need for a separate trade fair dedicated to tiles,” said Stephan Kühne, producer of Domotex.

Fliesen/tiles will cover all stages in the production and installation of ceramic tiles, he added. In addition to tile manufacturers, the exhibitor lineup will include producers of sealants, adhesives, cleaning products, tile cutters and shapers, and tiling tools.

Additional special activities focusing on themes of topical interest to the industry will encourage networking among manufacturers, retailers and tiling professionals.

In addition to the German contingent of exhibitors, Kühne said groups of companies from Italy, Spain, Turkey and Eastern Europe are expected to exhibit at the show. The fact it parallels Domotex means exhibitors benefit from significant synergies and visitor cross over. This year a lineup of 1,350 exhibitors from all over the world participated in Domotex with approximately 38,000 people attending.
