Domotex to host acoustics forum
Article Number: 4011

HANNOVER, GERMANY—On Jan. 19 and 20, for the first time ever, Domotex Hannover will be hosting a special event on the subject of room acoustics, with contributions from experts and specialists in the field. Alongside the structure and design of a room, its acoustics play an important part in creating a positive ambience and a sense of well being, noted Onuora Ogbukagu, spokesman for Domotex.

“This is an area of special interest to architects, interior designers, planners and scientist,” he explained. “Good room acoustics require careful planning and design. The challenge is to strike the right balance between aesthetics and acoustics—how to combine an attractive interior design scheme with optimum acoustic characteristics.”

The two-day program, includes presentations of best-practice case studies, together with lectures and workshops. Putting theory into practice, a series of practical simulations and experiments will complete the coverage of the subject.

The purpose of the event is to identify the factors that make for pleasant room acoustics and to examine the synergies between the scientific and creative disciplines, Onuora noted.

Architects and scientists will discuss issues such as designing with room acoustics, sound reflection and absorption, making people happier through good room acoustics, enhancing performance and motivation through good room acoustics.

The event is sponsored by the Association of German Interior Designers (BDIA).
