TROY, N.C.—Capel Rugs introduced two additions to its cleaning lines focused on more concentrated stain removal and the environment. First, a “revolutionary stain remover,” Capel Care Concentrate hit the market in June.

What’s revolutionary, said Mary Capel, director of administration, is that it cleans without the use of solvents and contains no VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds). “All the ingredients in the Capel Concentrate are ‘cosmetic grade’ and, therefore, are safe,” she explained.

The solution cleans water-soluble stains and grease spots, and shields rugs from further dirt buildup. Colleen Stoutnar, marketing manager, said since Capel’s Care Spot Remover has received rave reviews since its launch last fall, “this concentrated formula now offers a super-strength spot cleaner that blasts away the most stubborn stains.”

Capel Care Concentrate is not yet third-party certified, though the company is in the beginning phases of securing GreenGuard certification.

And, launched early last month, Green Scents takes Capel’s eco-friendly home products a step further, adding three “room- freshening” scents— White Magnolia, Uwharrie Forest and Fresh Bamboo.

“We’re expanding the same eco-friendly cleaning power we formulated in our traditional spot remover and concentrate to include a room-freshening line,” Capel explained. “This allows our customers to enjoy a solvent-free, non-toxic alternative to liquid or powder fresheners that actually cleans and helps repel future stains.”

Green Scents is the newest member of the company’s Capel Care line—entirely free of VOCs and pH-balanced to be effective in removing dirt while preserving consumers’ floors— and retails for $17.95. It is safe to use on wool, cotton, nylon, polyester, olefin, polypropylene and other fibers.
