The environment is an undeniable force in today’s marketplace. Green product sales continue to rise, and major retailers are investing heavily in environmental practices, products and promotion.
It’s no secret this industry is deeply committed to making environmentally friendly flooring. The real question is: How does it engage a prospect and convert a sale?
At Torlys, the company says it learned education is more important than ever. When consumers understand the appeal, the benefits and the differences, they can better understand value and make an informed buying decision. “We know it works; our most Earth-friendly floors are advancing revenues and profits,” said Karen Deel, brand manager.
Torlys Smart Floors concept is simple: Every floor is a Uniclic floor. Every surface—in hardwood, cork, laminate or leather—is joint-assured, installed without chemicals or glue, nails or dust. And every floor can be easily disassembled and re-used in another room or in a second home, or donated to a local Habitat for Humanity ReStore. “Imagine a floor of such integrity that it can be re-used up to three times under warranty,” Deel said.
Here’s a product lineup focused on environmental benefits:
Torlys HardwoodUses up to 30 times fewer hardwood trees. “Think about it: From a single tree in a managed forest Torlys can make up to 30 times more hardwood flooring—all beautiful with longer-life performance benefits,” Deel said.
Torlys CorkMade with an entirely renewable resource. Cork bark is carefully harvested once every nine years in a centuries-old tradition with hand tools—without destroying a single tree.
Torlys LeatherMade with 100% recycled leather. The leftover material from the manufacture of leather products such as belts, jackets and boots (that otherwise would be wasted and shipped to a landfill) are used to create aesthetically pleasing, durable and environmentally friendly floors.
The BulldogSmart Floors can be easily renewed to their original state with Torlys’ patented Bulldog Tool. Exclusive to Torlys, the Bulldog allows the consumer to replace any plank, even in the middle of a room, with no cutting or glues.
Deel added that even Torlys’ underlays are state-of-the art. Mildew-resistant Safe & Sound Underlay is a breakthrough product that insulates heat, dampens sound and repels microbes. Many Torlys Smart Floors—Everest Hardwood, Cork and Leather— re backed with a layer of cork, a natural insulator that precludes the need for an underlay in most applications.
