MARBLE HILL, GA.—Following its strategic fiber repositioning initiative ( FCNews, Jan.21), Wools of New Zealand was recently acquired as a division of Wool Partners International (WPI), effective Oct. 1. WPI—a new commercial entity owned jointly by Wool Grower Holdings, a grower-owned co-op, and PGG Writghtson—purchased the group from the Wool Research Organization (WRO) to provide it with a full farm-to-market capability.

David Douglas, WRO’s chairman, said the group’s objective of ensuring the value of Wools of New Zealand was preserved for the benefit of the New Zealand wool sector has been realized. “The sale is a pleasing outcome to the ‘caretaker’ role that we have been performing over the last two years.”
