New and old find ‘space’ at AmericasMart - Momeni, Imperial Rugs break ground with expanded and new showrooms
Article Number: 3719

ATLANTA—With AmericasMart’s recent revamps and additions set to premier in January, over 50 area rug mills have celebrated new or newly expanded permanent showrooms with ribbon cutting ceremonies with more expected during the winter market, Jan. 13 to 16, 2009.

Momeni broke ground last month on its new 3,500-squarefoot showroom, making it the largest single exhibit space in the area rug product center. To accommodate the expansion, AmericasMart has restructured Floor 5 of Building 1, where the space is located, to make it the anchor showroom, while allowing existing and new exhibitors to change and expand their locations as well.

“Our customers—current and potential—come to Atlanta, and we need to be here,” said Reza Momeni of Momeni. “Atlanta is the premier area rug market, and we are as committed to AmericasMart as it is to the entire industry.”

He noted this is the time to focus on growth and customer expansion from area rug to home furnishings companies. “We are making a solid commitment to our customers and the entire industry with this expansive space. We are growing and doing it here; we invite our customers to visit and grow with us.”

Imperial Rugs, on the other hand, will celebrate its grand opening at AmericasMart in January in its new 1,600-square-foot showroom. “Our unique approach and dedication to our customers and the entire industry continues to keep us on the forefront of innovation and a major part of the global rug market,” said Jim Arinik, area sales manager.

“Partnering with and taking space at AmericasMart will help us continue this momentum as we will be afforded the opportunity to reach more customers and strengthen our business on an international level.”

Several other rug manufacturers have recognized the growth potential—Chandra, Amerr and Asmara to name a few—and will be following Momeni and Imperial Rugs’ leads expanding their own exhibit spaces.

So, what does this mean for AmericasMart? Chas Sydney, senior vice president of area rugs, said it’s a sign of good things to come. “AmericasMart is built on solid business practices and prides itself on the quality of exhibitors and retailers it attracts and partners with.”

He said Momeni’s commitment to AmericasMart and the entire industry “reinforces this foundation and is the driving force behind the renovation and growth of the area rug product center. And, Imperial Rugs has the international element and specialized products we look for in exhibitors in efforts to support our established reputation as a world leader in rugs.”

He noted the new showrooms will be spectacular additions to redesigned Building 1, which will, for the first time, house the entire home furnishings segment. “This will make shopping very efficient and easy for the consumer as she will be able to see an overview of an entire industry—featuring the best-of-the- best—in a short time. We believe it will increase area rug business.”
