HANNOVER, GERMANY—With exhibitor and attendee numbers on the up-and-up, Domotex Hannover 2009 organizer Deutsche Messe recently reported vast improvements—specifically in access and layout—to the Hannover Exhibition Grounds in order to accommodate the expected masses.
Leaving the basic design of the Domotex exhibition area unchanged next year, Deutsche Messe has focused its attention on the Nord 1 entrance area— one of the most utilized entrances to the exhibition grounds—investing approximately $1.57 million in its complete refurbishment. Currently undergoing construction to update its aesthetics to match the ground’s innovative architecture, the renovated space will also: integrate Hall 18—which will house handmade rugs—into the exhibition area; provide a wider, covered entrance for comfort and to alleviate possible weather infringements, and direct and assist attendees— the entrance will feature the Exhibitors Information Centre.
The new complex will be a steel and glass construction that is open, bright and welcoming, said a company spokesperson, who also announced next year’s visitors will be able to enter by e-tix for the first time in Domotex history. “All of these improvements are aimed to help increase the quality and experience exhibitors and attendees have at Domotex 2009 and in the future.”
Deutsche Messe also announced 85% of available display space is already booked for Domotex Hannover 2009, which takes place Jan. 17 to 20. With nearly four months left before the show, the company said it expects approximately 1,350 exhibitors next year covering 300,000 square feet of display space.
“We are already seeing an enormous response from firms, following the great success of Domotex Hannover 2008, and they are very interested in using the industry’s premier international platform to promote their own business next January,” the spokesperson said, noting decision makers from over 80 countries will also be in attendance this winter.
