DALTON, GA, September 20, 2008—
Karastan was a proud participant of the Be EcoChic runway show that kicked off New York’s Fashion Week on September 4. The star-studded event took place at the Milstein Hall of Ocean Life at the American Museum of Natural History. To complement the “green” evening, Karastan donated an eco-friendly Plum Blossom rug from the Studio by Karastan Artworks Collection, which fashioned the VIP lounge during the event.
Eco-inspirations from leading names in fashion, like Chado Ralph Rucci, Christian Cota, DKNY, Nicole Miller and Thread Social, were made from environmentally sensitive, sustainable, low-impact or recycled materials. The super-natural looks were modeled by former Miss USA and model-actress Susie Castillo, environmentalist Jayni Chase, supermodel Patti Hansen, actress Lauren Hutton, author Tom Kostigen and many more celebrities and environmentalist who have joined the Be EcoChic cause.
“We have found that people prefer cleaner, safer and more responsible choices when presented with the opportunity,” says Carl Pope, Be EcoChic speaker and Executive Director of the Sierra Club. “We applaud manufacturers, like Karastan, who are responding to that demand. Everyone can make a difference by making responsible everyday choices that create a new market.”
The Be EcoChic campaign raises consumer awareness of the environmental implications of our lifestyles and helps better inform people on smart choices for a healthier planet. Launched in partnership with the Sierra Club, the campaign is overseen by an advisory committee comprised of fashion and environmental leaders and is produced by Chandler Chicco Products, LLP.
