Beaulieu Goes On Shopping Spree, Restocks Shelves at Local Food Bank
Article Number: 3610

DALTON GA, August 28, 2008 – Turns out one of the owners of the world’s third largest carpet maker is also a pretty good grocery shopper. Carl Bouckaert, of Beaulieu of America, spent the morning covering the aisles in a Dalton discount supermarket and filling several shopping carts for the Murray County Red Cross. Lori Rosen, Red Cross Director, along with several Beaulieu employees, assisted Mr. Bouckaert.

Tough economic times have had an impact on this community built on the carpet industry and have strained the resources of local charitable services like the local Red Cross food bank. The food bank had to close temporarily until Beaulieu stepped forward to restock the shelves. “We are delighted to help the community,” remarked Mr. Bouckaert while making sure about the right assortment groceries. “We hope other companies will follow our lead.”

Supporting the Red Cross has become a service tradition for Beaulieu. Over the past few years, the company has donated over 30,000 food items and has raised over $60,000 through its Beaulieu Cares committee funded by employee donations and company coffers. The contributions for 2008 are still being tallied.

“Beaulieu is one of our top financial supporters,” observed Ms. Rosen. “And they know how to shop for a good bargain, too.”

Beaulieu of America is the third largest carpet manufacturer in the world, employing
over 6,000 people in 30 facilities.
