KANSAS CITY, MO.—The Certified Floorcovering Installers Association (CFI) is gearing up to celebrate its many years of success at its 15th Annual Convention, held here at the Hilton Airport Hotel, July 31 to Aug. 2. Convention No. 15 will focus on education, featuring a
WFCA-sponsored Leadership Conference, a manufacturer product spotlight, the Associate-sponsored Convention Jacket and an array of other prizes, installation workshops, motivational speakers and several networking opportunities.
“CFI is celebrating 15 years of enhancing the value of quality flooring installation; CFI is celebrating 15 years of training, identifying and certifying the most knowledgeable and skilled flooring installers in the world; CFI is celebrating 15 years of building industry partnerships and proclaiming 15 years of friendship that are strong and meaningful with the well-known CFI spirit,” said Jon Namba, executive director.
Roy Davidson, CFI’s vice president, shared Namba’s enthusiasm at the group’s accomplishments over the years. “Fifteen years is an important milestone in the life of all organizations.” He pointed to CFI’s presence on six continents, worldwide logo recognition, over 30,000 CFI-trained carpet installers and programs touching on all floor covering surfaces as success markers along the journey. “With the support of the
World Floor Covering Association (WFCA), it is our plan to double the number of trained installers before the next 15 years.”
And, speaking of the WFCA, Leon Harris, CFI’s president, looked forward to the upcoming convention, saying the WFCA-sponsored Leadership Conference is the only event of its kind and a great way to kick off the meeting. “It’s the only event that focuses on the true value of being a leader in both business and personal life. It is the beginning of a conference that includes numerous skills workshops and seminars that are designed to provide information that improves our business in the coming year.”
Since this year’s convention is in line with the CFI’s 15th anniversary, speakers will include several members of the organization on a variety of topics. Some educational seminars include: “Seam Welding and Flash Coving of Resilient Flooring—Hands-on Workshop,” “Making Money Has Never Been Easier,” “Natural Carpet Fibers— Hands-on Workshop,” and “Wall Coving with Rubber Products and New Moldings—Hands-on Workshop.”
Bob Gillespie, past CFI president, said this is a must-attend event, not to be missed. “Every CFI convention has information, demonstrations and new tools and techniques that keep attendees on the cutting edge of what’s ‘in’ for the installation industry. And, from the time you set foot in the doorway until your departure, the camaraderie among old friends and new ones fills the air. Everyone is included in a weekend of learning.”
Installers, dealers, manufacturers, technical reps, inspectors and cleaners are all invited to attend and asked to register in advance by visiting www.CFIinstallers.com or calling 816.231.4646. The convention cost, including the WFCA-sponsored leadership conference, is $495.
