SALT LAKE CITY—Following the success of its first Corrective Flooring Procedures Workshop, the International Certified Floorcovering Installers Associations (CFI) has scheduled a second workshop for Oct. 8 to 10 here.
The workshop covers corrective procedures for carpet, laminate, ceramic, hardwood and resilient flooring surfaces, and is specifically designed for dealers, installers, manufacturers, cleaners, inspectors and others in the industry who are responsible for the correction of problems that surface during or after installation.
The training includes corrective procedures for carpet burns, spots and re-stretch techniques; laminate plank replacement— both glue and click and the hot-melt corrective system; ceramic/stone includes individual tile replacement, grout rework and hot-melt corrective system; hardwood training includes pre-finished board replacement of glue-down and nail-down, touch-up using stains and finishes and the hot-melt corrective system; and the resilient section includes corrective techniques for tears, burns and gouges.
The instructor for the workshop is CFI executive director Jon Namba. Many of the procedures are unique to the industry, he noted. “During the ‘hands-on’ skills sessions, attendees learn by correcting problems and understanding the requirements of the techniques.”
The course provides an opportunity to learn the latest corrective procedures and technical information in classroom and skills sessions, he added.
“This course is unlike any in the industry,” Namba said. “Attendees must arrive prepared to work and absorb an abundance of information that will enhance their skills and prepare them to become more involved with difficult situations that may arise in their companies.”
All CFI educational programs qualify for 100% tuition through the
World Floor Covering Association’s (
WFCA) scholarship funds, which provide an opportunity to participate in various industry training programs.
The schedule for the second Corrective Flooring Procedures Workshop is Wed., Oct. 8, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Thur., Oct. 9, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Fri., Oct. 10, from 8 a.m. to noon. The course will take place at Custom Floors in Salt Lake City. Cost for the workshop is $1,200 per person. A $50 late fee will be imposed if paid after Sept. 12. Due to its hands-on nature, space is limited.
