LGM Carpet Seminar set to educate, explain

DALTON—LGM and Associates is once again holding its carpet seminar on June 18 to 20 here. Headed up by FCNews’ “Claims” columnist Lew Migliore, the LGM Carpet Seminar is held three times a year and stresses educating attendees on the technical aspects of fiber, yarn, dyeing, backing systems and carpet manufacturing. It also highlights new technical developments and their effects on carpet, as well as installation, maintenance and testing information.

Specific topics include carpet construction, industry statistics, carpet fibers and their characteristics, carpet yarn manufacturing, dyeing processes, tufting processes, carpet finishing/backing systems, installation, adhesives, cleaning and maintenance, testing methods and an industry overview including lab and mill tours.

Migliore, the industry’s most respected independent, objective and unbiased complaint analyst, will speak at this year’s event along with Sim Crisler, Benny Wood, Perry McLawhom and Lee Phillips. Crisler is a pattern and modular carpet construction and installation expert. Wood is a chemist and adhesives expert who is currently involved in revising the Green Label program for VOC emissions of adhesives.

McLawhom is an expert in fiber characteristics and applications, while Phillips is responsible for analyzing, evaluating, developing and operating test procedures as the director of the industry’s largest independent testing lab.
