ORLANDO—
Mohawk Industries named House of Floors, of Albuqerque, NM as the 2007 National Dealer of the Year during the
Mohawk ColorCenter ® Convention in Orlando February 14 through February 17, 2008.
Dennis and Leta Fairchild, owners of House of Floors, accepted the award. The Fairchilds were among nine regional winners for the Dealer of the Year Award, which recognizes exceptional work within a group comprised of the best retailing minds in the nation.
The National Dealer of the Year Award is based on a number of criteria, including a percentage increase over previous year’s business, excellence in promoting the store concept, ongoing commitment to training, store standards, brand building, merchandising and installation ideas and community involvement.
“Dennis and Leta are a superb example of what the Mohawk ColorCenter® concept can mean to a store,” said
Manny Llerena, Vice President of Retail Marketing for Mohawk. “A year ago, they were at our convention, trying to decide if ColorCenter® was the right direction for their business. Once they made the decision to go with the program, they began seeing immediate results.”
“We feel very honored,” said Dennis Fairchild. “We are excited to be part of the Mohawk ColorCenter® family.”
Dennis and Leta Fairchild opened House of Floors in the summer of 2001. Their daughter Amber and son Ryan work in the store with them, along with their son-in-law, Trever. Dennis Fairchild said House of Floors converted to a ColorCenter® Elite store just after Memorial Day 2007. He said that he and his wife were looking to upgrade their store, and investigated other dealer programs before choosing ColorCenter®.
He saw quickly that ColorCenter® was a good business move. Fairchild said that sales picked up significantly after the installation, and store profit for the year was up a full 5%. Even in a down economy, Fairchild said his store sales have been strong in both January and February of 2008.
“That’s the power of a co-branded selling system like ColorCenter®,” Llerena said. “Mohawk understands that when we ask a retailer to make a commitment to our aligned programs, it must pay off on the bottom line.”
Founded in 1974, the Mohawk ColorCenter® program is the flooring industry’s oldest co-branding program and provides consumers with an easy-to-understand presentation of carpet, hardwood, laminate, ceramic, resilient, cushion, rugs, and other flooring products.
