Rolling Meadows, Ill.—To honor those who
have been in the industry at least 50 years, the Chicago Floorcovering
Association (CFA) will be hosting an awards dinner and ceremony. The celebration
will take place at the Meridian Banquet, here, March 7, from 7 p.m. to midnight.
Throughout its history the association has been known for its tribute dinners,
“and this event will be no exception,” noted Mike Kocent, chairman and past
president.
In continuing its trend the CFA has organized
this event with the same enthusiasm as it has with previous gatherings. CFA is
showing its support to those who have devoted their lives to the industry beyond
the dinner, as proceeds from the gala will benefit the Floor Covering Industry
Foundation (FCIF). FCIF is a non-profit organization which is dedicated to
helping industry personnel whose lives have been devastated by a catostrophic
event. “So far, we have had very good response and it looks like we’ll have
a great turn-out,” said Cecil Treadway, executive director and honoree.
“This is excellent because all proceeds will go to the FCIF.”
“Considering the tough economic times, we
are doing very well,” added Kocent. “We are looking forward to a large crowd
and with everyone’s help we hope to give a substan tial donation to FCIF.
Somewhere in the range of $10,000 to $15,000 we’re hoping.” Those being
honored include: Bert Counselbaum, Len Donlin, Jack Duffy, William Gray, Allen
Greenberg, Frank Horwich, Tony Inzerello, Dean Johnson, Aaron Karsen, Mort
Kaplan, Jack Kornick, Fred Leinweber, Frank Parks Sr., Haig Pedian, Don Rado,
Henry Schaye, Gordon Smith, Paul Spiewak Sr., Phil Steinway, Harold, Taustein,
Cecil Treadway, Bob Wally, Bob Vanderwerf and Ben Zaiken. The cost is $75 per
person and includes an open bar, dinner, awards presenta tion and dancing. For
