Dodge-Regupol becomes Ecore
Article Number: 2938

Lancaster, Pa.— Dodge-Regupol, North America’s largest user of scrap tire rubber and the maker of the ECOsurfaces commercial flooring and Everlast performance flooring brands, has broadened its strategic and geographic focus and, as a result, has changed its name to Ecore International.

Dodge-Regupol was actually formed 18 years ago through a partnership between the Dodge Cork Co. and German-based Berleburger Schaumstoffwerk. Last November, they mutually agreed to conclude their joint venture, said Ecore president and CEO Arthur Dodge III, whose great, great grandfather founded the Dodge Cork Co. in the mid-1800s, in order to purse distinct business strategies and accelerate growth.

While the company has a new name, its principals remain in place. In addition, Ecore retains ownership of all brands and operating units formerly under Dodge-Regupol. “We’ll continue to make great products and deliver outstanding service as we have previously,” Dodge said.

Brad Drexler, chief marketing officer, said the new name “coincides with the company’s plans to evolve from a leading producer of recycled rubber products primarily for the U.S. building materials market into an international organization that is focused on developing innovative, environmentally sustainable products and solutions for application in sports and leisure, commercial, construction, industrial and consumer markets.”

Dodge added, “Our vision is to build an organization of talented individuals who share a common passion for protecting and preserving this planet and a desire for success in the marketplace of sustainable products and services. Our vision also involves finding business solutions and developing systems and standards that are on the cutting-edge of sustainability.”

Drexler said an example of this is Ecore’s partnership with shoe-maker Nike by participating in its Nike Grind program. “Nike collects worn athletic shoes and processes them into raw materials. Ecore blends this raw material with premium recycled tire rubber to create matting and a unique underlayment for poured urethane floors.”

Proceeds from the program go toward providing disadvantaged communities around the world with high-performance athletic surfaces where sports are played. “We are committed to this initiative and growing these types of relationships as we progress,” he concluded.
