Hicksville, N.Y.—With wood companies scrambling to fill distribution voids as a result of the Hoboken demise, Zickgraf Hardwood Flooring has taken a different path than most by teaming up with
Shaw Industries to service its products across much of the Mid-Atlantic and Midwest.
Zickgraf had been represented in this territory by Superior Products, a division of Hoboken. “We are very fortunate Shaw was interested in our line,” said Drew Hash, Zickgraf’s president. “Shaw, by far, is the best suited to service the market. It’s an honor to have what is recognized as the country’s premier sales and distribution network representing our product line.”
As part of the agreement specially trained customer service representatives with Shaw are available to answer any questions and take orders for Zickgraf.
Scott Sandlin, vice president of Shaw’s Hard Surfaces division, noted, “We have a complete group in customer service focused on it. Rick Knowles and Mickey Long have the ultimate sales responsibility, but our entire hard surface management team has worked closely with Zickgraf to make this happen.”
Hash stressed this is not a new business strategy for the 75-year-old privately held manufacturer. “We’re very happy with our independent distributors, some of whom we’ve been working with for many years. This is simply the result of having to replace Superior and Shaw was easily the best option.”
Sandlin added, “Zickgraf is a quality supplier of solid wood flooring, and Shaw is just distributing the line—it’s still under the Zickgraf brand. This allow us to offer an expanded portfolio as Zickgraf features several species, widths and looks we do not currently offer.”
He added, this is not the first time Shaw is distributing another company’s products. “We are open to any partnership that involves distribution where we have the people and the facilities to make it happen.”
